大部分走角色救赎路线的电影都会在临近结尾时给予主人公二次选择的机会让主人公在新一次的选择中弥补前一次错误行为造成的遗憾以彰显人性自省纠正的能力及人类成长的潜能但《九死成神》却决绝地走上了与之相反的道路强迫主人公亲手断送了让自己重生的机会并通过二次的错行将其推至更加极端（纯粹）的状态这样的选择源于创作者对人类所谓自省纠正能力的一种鄙夷自我纠正实际上是人类丧失纯真(loss of innocence)并开始自我怀疑的结果其带来的不过是被冠以成长之美名的善变还有一个不循本心的虚伪世界成长的这般代价在创作者看来无疑是得不偿失的所以一场没有成长的结局才是一个角色更好的归宿
